How to Make Chinese Dumplings for the Super Bowl w/the Amateur Gourmet & VendrTV

my favorite version are steamed soup dumplings made with pork and crabmenat with hot chili sauce/oil. Tried numeraous times to recreate but have only gotten close to the ones I adore form chinatown. Will not rest till i get it right, lol.

I would love to figure out how to make soup dumplings like those of Joe's Shanghi in Chinatown. Those things are amazing but how does one get the soup in there?

Thin-skinned pork dumplings fried dipped in a combination of soy, vinegar, garlic, scallion, red pepper flake, and a touch of sesame oil for dipping. Leave the ginger in the dumplings. They are the BEST!

I love your show, and have been away form a computer, so I have missed some episodes. I'm excited to 'catch up'! Just a hint, if you want to try it. Instead of fooling around with a vegetable peeler for peeling ginger, just use a spoon! It works so well. Just scrape the skin off the ginger with the spoon part upside down. Anyway, keep up the great work! Maybe one day, you can try a low carb recipe?

I loved this episode, as I do all of them. I've never tried dumplings, this has got my mouth watering though. I love 'cantonese style' sweet and sour pork, anything tangy really that has a background crunch. Perhaps a slightly spiced pork dumpling with a sweet sauce is something I should try = )

Looks so good that we had to try it. We did them somewhat too large but they tasted heavenly! :-) We did some shrimp dumplings too, by simply replacing the pork with some chopped shrimps... Really sorry to hear about Bix. Loosing a dog is always hard!

I've been going to a chinese restaurant near my campus for 4 days in a row just to eat the fried dumplings filled with pork and celery... they sure are addictive! But your recipe seems worth to try and easy to make. I'm pretty sure it'll help me save money :)

I made dumplings with my roommate once and we ate them with sauteed bok choy, garlic, and onions. The combination of flavors was amazing!

great video! i'm craving dumplings right now... my favorite dumplings of all times are soup dumplings - they're like complete little meals on their own: savory and hot broth, a soft wrapper and great tasting pork and shrimp filling. yum!

When I travel I always try to have dumplings, they are one of my favorites. Sadly, the only ones available where I live are of the frozen variety. I have tried to find a good recipe but they always seem to fall flat, the the wrappers seemed daunting. You made it look so easy I will be giving this a try soon! Yum.

hmm i have to say i don't think i've ever had dumplings before, but it might be something to try later this winter. they sure look like they would be good! My heart goes out to you over you loss in your home. It hurts to loss someone you love.

To make your dumplings even better, try adding water to the pork mixture, stir it until it becomes a soft mushy texture. This will make your dumpling filling more soft instead of becoming a hard ball inside. Adding Chinese chives instead of leeks will give you this true North China taste. Great video! My husband loves it when I make them! But I have to admit I have just used the prepacked wonton wrappers. I will have to try the home made method. I really can't decide I like them boiled & pan fried. Please make more videos on Asian food. I go to my local Asian food marts & I get so lost. Thanks guys!

I've made pork dumplings before, i used a video recipe from Youtube. It's a show called "cooking with dog" and it's based in Japan. The host is a French Poodle named Francis. And the narrater speaks english with a japanese accent. It's a great recipe and I got it right on my first try!

I noticed in the video that you peeled your ginger with a vegetable peeler. I've found that its a lot easier and you save a lot more ginger if you take a spoon and use the edge of the concave part to remove the skin.
