My one problem with this show is it makes me crave whatever you're making. Or maybe I just need to stop watching this while hungry, lol. Oh, and the bird scared me O.O
Hey there!in Argntina we make these with no sauce,no masa, but the filling is a very masa itself, made with corn flour, quinoa seeds and pork or lamb, very popular in the northern provinces, and they are usually made with left overs from stews made with leftovers from roasted lamb or pork,so it´s a veeery working class foodie here :)
Love all things Mexican food. To make? Very time/labor intensive and your cost estimate of id="comment_list" per tamale might go higher if you figure in the energy cost. Great episode!
Sure, the time you spend cooking is time you can't spend on other pursuits, but (for me, at least) there's a satisfaction in cooking for yourself. Plus, a tamalada (tamale-making party) is a lot of fun! Thanks for your feedback!

I've had tamales in Honduras that were kinda sorta but not really like this... the masa on the outside was very thick, and the inside was shredded pork and corn with no sauce, just a lot of cilantro. Still really good - just goes to show that the possibilities are endless!
cool! if you do, let us know how your tamales turn out!

Viva Mexico! Viva WCF!
at my family's tamaladas my welita (grandma) always placed the tamales in the pot herself, she said that if more than one person touched them they would come out raw and pregnant ladies were not allowed to help, this also made the tamales come out raw. my favorite vegi filling is roasted poblanos.
Awesome! Gabriela said that they're traditionally served for Christmas in New Mexico, but she let us make an exception because they're so delicious. What do you put in your tamales?
