Vegetarian Steaks: Grilled Romaine & Cauliflower 'Steak'

I wonder how well the cauliflower would do in a marinade before grilling it? Do you think it would take on the flavor?

I have been meat-free for over five years and never thought to but my favorite vegetable (cauliflower) on the grill. Can't wait to try it. Thanks SO much!

I love grilling leeks! They get crispy and caramelized and are absolutely delicious. Drizzle of balsamico and a grating of Parmesan just sweetens the deal.

Actually that looks good to add as a vegetable on the side of a 2.5 inch grilled rib-eye and some Pomme frittes.  Just cut up into portions and add some cherry tomatoes or as an option Gorgonzola cheese.

One of my favorite thing to grill is pineapple. It is always a hit at BBQ with vegetarians and omnivores alike, since everybody thinks about their steak, but no one thinks about dessert! Just sprinkle a bit of sugar and cinnamon on pineapple slices prior to grilling so it caramelizes, or grill it plain. Yummy! Other fruits are great for grilling, such as cantaloup (which grows locally near Montreal, unlike pineapple).

One of my favorite grilled vegetables is fennel: cut the bulb in half and grill till outer leaves are black. Peel off the black leaves and season the fennel with olive oil, salt, pepper and lemon juice.
If you have more time you can cut up the fennel bulb and put it on a piece of tin foil. Add a few slices of organic lemon, salt and pepper, olive oil, lemon juice, and some fresh herbs. Close the tin foil all around and on top and make a little package that you place on the grill for 5 to 8 minutes.
I sometimes like this version even more. It's nice and juicy and you can eat the lemon slices with the fennel. The combination of the two is really good.
P.S. But tonight I'll try the caulifower steaks...

I'm a fan of vegkabobs, too. My favourite combo is mushrooms, zucchini chunks, green pepper, bit of onion and a cherry tomato. Bit of olive oil, S&P, on the grill for a few mins. Also, I haven't tried it myself yet but my mother and a few friends have fantastic recipes for vegetarian grilled stuffed bell peppers.

i like making a veggie kabob marinated in a mix of soy sauce olive oil agave nectar ( or honey if need be) and black pepper
I like to use bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, onions and button mushrooms

wow, i never would have thought of that! that grilled romaine looks soooo good, like a big warm salad. i wish i had a grill in my office, i'd totally make that for lunch!
